The evening sun dipped like a dollop of peach jam behind the tallest oak tree in London, casting cozy amber shadows across Maya's bedroom rug. In the soft crook of Maya's arm sat Barnaby, the faithful blue velvet bear with his charming yellow patchwork ear knitted with love by Grandma Rose.

Mom tiptoed in with a gentle smile, kissing Maya's forehead and tucking the dandelion quilt snugly over Maya and Barnaby's paws. Barnaby gave a quiet, fuzzy sigh of utter contentment.
